Women’s Basketball Team Falls to Calvin College, 67-60
The Olivet College women's basketball team fell to Calvin College, 67-60, today at the Calvin Fieldhouse.
GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. – The Olivet College women's basketball team fell to Calvin College, 67-60, today at the Calvin Fieldhouse.
After falling behind 18-10, the Lady Comets (5-8, 0-2 MIAA) battled back with a 13-6 run to cut the Knights' lead to one point with 5:57 left in the first half. Olivet then took a 30-29 lead at the 1:37 mark when back-up center Amanda Johnston (Mt. Morris/Genesee High School) made a layup. Calvin then made a basket to take a 31-30 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Knights led by 13 points on three occasions. The Comets then stormed back with a 13-3 run to trail by three points at 63-60 with 1:07 left in the game. Calvin then scored the final four points of the game for the victory.
Senior three-time All-MIAA forward Louisa Grill (Williamston High School) led the Comets with a game-high 24 points and team-high seven rebounds. Senior guard Lindsey Brunworth (Hudson High School) joined Grill in double figures with 13 points.
Emily Beard paced Calvin (10-3, 1-1) with 19 points. Tricia Dyk added 12 points and Andrea MacDonald scored 10 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Comets will next be in action when they travel to play Adrian College next Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
