Women’s Basketball Team Falls to Cornerstone , 71-62, in its Season Opener
The Olivet College women's basketball team fell to NAIA foe Cornerstone University, 71-62, tonight in its season opener at the Cornerstone University Tip-Off Tournament in Grand Rapids. With the loss, the Lady Comets will play Grace College in the consolation game tomorrow at 1 p.m.
GRAND RAPIDS, MI. -- The Olivet College women's basketball team fell to NAIA foe Cornerstone University, 71-62, tonight in its season opener at the Cornerstone University Tip-Off Tournament in Grand Rapids. With the loss, the Lady Comets will play Grace College in the consolation game tomorrow at 1 p.m.
Despite the loss, senior forward Louisa Grill (Williamston High School) scored a game-high 30 points and grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds. She is now five points shy of the 1,000 career point plateau. In the game, Grill made 11-of-21 shots from the floor, including her fourth career three pointer. She also canned seven-of-eight free throws.
Senior Lindsey Brunworth (Hudson High School) joined Grill in double figures with 15 points, including four three pointers. Brunworth also dished out a team-best six assists.
Following its game tomorrow, Olivet will be idle until after Thanksgiving when it hosts the Comet Classic on Dec. 6-7. On Dec. 6, the Lady Comets will play Aquinas College at 7:00 p.m. and on Dec. 7, they will play Concordia College.
