STUNT: Olivet splits games against Concordia-Ann Arbor and Concordia Chicago
OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet STUNT team posted a 1-1 record in two games inside the Cutler Event Center. The Comets rallied to beat Concordia University-Ann Arbor, 7-6. Olivet fell to Concordia University Chicago (Ill.), 8-6.
The Cardinals scored a point on routines one and two in the first quarter (partner stunts). The Comets leveled the score with a point on routines one and two in the second quarter (pyramids and tosses). In the third quarter (pyramids and tosses), CUAA took a 3-2 lead with a point on routine one before Olivet answered with a point on routine one to tie the game at 3-3 to start the fourth quarter.
The Comets had possession to begin the fourth quarter and chose routine two. In the routine, Olivet earned two points to one for the Cardinals to go ahead 5-4. CUAA chose routine three for the second round of the quarter. The Comets forfeited the routine but the Cardinals failed to score any points. Olivet opted for routine one in the third round. Both teams scored two points to make the score, 7-6. CUAA selected routine four for the final round and did not score any points to keep the same.
In the second game, the Cougars jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead behind two points in the first and second quarters. They scored a point each on routines one and two of both quarters. The Comets outscored CUC, 2-1, in the third quarter to trim their deficit down to three points at 5-2. Olivet’s points came in routines one and two, while the Cougars’ lone point was in routine two.
In the opening round of the fourth quarter and on routine one, the Comets had a 2-1 edge in points to make the score 6-4. Neither team scored points in the second round. Both teams tallied two points on routine two in round three to maintain the two-point cushion at 8-6. Olivet forfeited the last round and CUC did not score any points in routine three.
The Comets will be back in action next Saturday, March 23, when they play Heidelberg (Ohio) University at 1 p.m. The game will be at the Concordia University Fieldhouse in Ann Arbor.
