GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Olivet softball team suffered a pair of losses to Calvin University, 5-0 and 12-1, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader this afternoon at the CU Softball Field.
- Final Scores: Calvin 5, Olivet 0; Calvin 12, Olivet 1 (5)
- Location: CU Softball Field; Grand Rapids, Michigan
- Records: Olivet 3-19 overall, 0-8 MIAA; Calvin 21-7 overall, 7-3 MIAA
- The Knights scored two runs in the first inning, one run in the second and two runs in the fifth for their 5-0 win.
- Brooke Hunderman threw a perfect game for Calvin.
- For Olivet, freshman Michelle Michelin tossed all six innings. She gave up five runs (three earned) on five hits, while striking out five.
- The Knights plated at least one run in each of the five innings.
- The Comets scored their lone run in the bottom of the fifth. Freshman Morgan Rachow was hit by a pitch and came around to score on freshman Alexis Bond's double to the right-center field gap.
- Olivet had just two hits in the game – Bond's double and a triple by freshman Olivia Burt.
- Sophomore Izzy Abalos was the losing pitcher, allowing five earned runs on four hits.
- The Comets play a non-conference doubleheader next Tuesday, April 23, at Aquinas College. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
