RICHMOND, Ind. – The University of Olivet softball team began the 2024 season with two losses, 10-1 and 9-2, against Earlham (Ind.) College today at Ellie Bewley Softball Stadium.
- Final Scores: Earlham 9, Olivet 1 (5); Earlham 9, Olivet 2
- Location: Ellie Bewley Softball Stadium; Richmond, Indiana
- Records: Olivet 0-2 overall, Earlham 2-0 overall
- The Comets had their only hit in the first inning and scored their only run in the second inning. Senior Brielle Broderick's groundout brought home sophomore Corina Hernandez for the lone run.
- The Quakers scored a run in the first inning before adding four more runs in the third inning to take a 5-0 lead. Olivet scored its two runs in the top half of the fourth. Earlham tallied one run in the fourth, one run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth for the final 9-2 score.
- The Comets finished the game with three hits, a single each for sophomore Mattie Akom, and freshmen Olivia Burt and Zola Smith.
- The Comets make the two-hour drive to Delaware, Ohio, for a doubleheader tomorrow at Ohio Wesleyan University. First pitch from game one is slated for 2 p.m.
