COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Olivet College softball team fell to Capital (Ohio) University, 10-1 and 17-4, today in a non-conference doubleheader at Clowson Field.

- Records: Olivet 0-4 overall, Capital 4-2 overall
- Olivet scored its only run in the top of first inning. Senior Erin Brady hit a double and came around to score on a single by senior Jessica Barnes. Capital plated 10 unanswered runs – three in the first, four in the second, one in the third and two in the fourth – for the five-inning, mercy rule win.
- Capital pushed across nine runs in the first inning and three runs in the second to take a commanding 12-0 lead. Olivet tallied a lone run in the top of third inning. Freshman Corina Hernandez reached on a fielder's choice, stole second base and came around to score on an errant throw by the catcher on junior Brielle Broderick's batted ball.
- Olivet added another run in the fourth inning. Sophomore Summer Smith hit a single down the right field line, went to second base on a wild pitch, advanced to third base on a ground out and scored when the center fielder dropped the ball. Capital scored five runs in its half of the fourth. Olivet ended the game's scoring in the fifth inning with two runs. Junior Meredith Morrel walked, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on Broderick's RBI-double. Later in the inning, Barnes hit a double into left field to score Broderick.
- The Comets host Manchester (Ind.) University for their home-opening doubleheader Thursday afternoon. First pitch from game one of the doubleheader at the Cutler Athletic Complex is set for 3 p.m.
