ANGOLA, Ind. – The Olivet College softball team fell in both games of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader to Trine (Ind.) University, 18-0 and 23-1, today at the SportONE/Parkview Field.

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Olivet College softball team fell in both games of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader to Trine (Ind.) University, 18-0 and 23-1, today at the SportONE/Parkview Field.

Records: Olivet 2-21 overall, 0-14 MIAA; Trine 18-11 overall, 8-2 MIAA
- The Thunder plated four runs in the first inning before adding eight more runs in the second, five runs in the third and one run in the fifth for the 18-0 final score.
- Junior Erin Brady had the only Comet hit, a single to lead off the game.
- Sophomore Katie Lenz surrendered the first 17 runs (13 earned) on 14 hits over the first two and one-third innings to be charged with the loss.
- Freshman Malaya Shireman finished the game in the circle and gave up one run on three hits over one and two-thirds innings.
- The Thunder totaled 17 hits.
- Mercede Daugherty was 3-for-3 with two doubles, one home run, three runs scored and two RBI.
- Ashley Swartout also had three hits (one single, one double and one home run) to go along with three RBI.
- Also posting a multi-hit game were Ellie Trine, Scarlett Elliott and Emma Beyer.
- Anna Koeppl threw the first three innings to earn the win.
- Adrienne Rosey tossed the final two innings.
- Trine scored five runs in the top of first inning.
- Olivet had a two-out rally to get on the scoreboard in the bottom half of the first. Sophomore Meredith Morell singled before senior Amber Trudeau reached on an infield single. Lenz ripped a double down the left field line to score Morell.
- The Thunder pushed across 18 unanswered runs over the next four innings to end the game.
- Olivet finished the game with five hits.
- Brady was 2-for-3, with two singles.
- The other hits were Lenz's doubles and singles for Morell and Trudeau.
- Shireman was charged with the loss after pitching the first three innings.
- Sophomore Emily Keeler tossed the final two innings.
- Trine recorded 20 hits.
- At the plate, Amanda Prather went 3-for-4 with five RBI and two runs scored.
- Beyer and Lexi Clark each had two hits (double and home run) and drove in four runs.
- In the circle, Elizabeth Koch was credited with the win.
- Olivet concludes the 2022 season Saturday when it hosts Kalamazoo College. First pitch from game one of the doubleheader at the Cutler Athletic Complex is slated for 1 p.m. Between games, the Comets will recognize the two seniors playing in their final collegiate softball games.
