ALMA, Mich. – The Olivet College softball team started Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play with two losses (5-0 and 23-0) to Alma College today at Scots Park.

Records: Olivet 2-7 overall, 0-2 MIAA; Alma 15-7 overall, 2-0 MIAA
- The Scots scored their first run in the first inning on a solo home run.
- Alma extended its lead with four runs in the second.
- The Comets had a chance to score in the third inning. After getting back-to-back hits to start the inning, the Scots got out of the jam with a strikeout, an out at the plate and pop out.
- Olivet was held to three hits, a double by freshman Summer Smith and singles by sophomores Brielle Broderick and Katie Lenz.
- Lenz suffered the loss in the circle. She gave up five runs (two earned) on seven hits over the six innings.
- The Scots tallied seven hits, with four doubles, two singles and one home run.
- Hannah Falejczyk was 2-for-3.
- Taylor Griffin and Haley Ullrich each drove in two runs.
- Five players scored one run apiece.
- Ullrich was the winning pitcher, as she threw all seven innings. She allowed the three hits, while striking out 14 and not walking a batter.
- The Scots scored five runs in the first inning, one run in the second, seven runs in the third and 10 runs in the fourth for their 23 total runs.
- Olivet had one hit, a single by junior Erin Brady in the third inning.
- Three pitchers combined to allow the 23 runs (19 earned) on 22 hits.
- Griffin was 3-for-5 with five runs scored.
- Emma Fraser also had three hits to go along with three runs scored.
- Five other players each tallied two hits.
- Thirteen different players recorded at least one RBI, led by Griffin's four.
- Daneilla Little picked-up the win in the circle.
- The Comets host Saint Mary's (Ind.) College for a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon. Game one is slated to start at 3 p.m. Game two will follow 30 minutes after game one ends.
