KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Olivet College softball team fell in both games of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader against Kalamazoo College, 23-0 and 8-5, today at the K Softball Field.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Olivet College softball team fell in both games of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader against Kalamazoo College, 23-0 and 8-5, today at the K Softball Field.

- The Hornets batted around twice and scored 14 runs in the home half of the first inning.
- Kalamazoo sent 13 players to the plate and pushed across their final nine runs in the third inning.
- Olivet had only two base runners in game.
- Senior Paige Poulter led off the game and was hit by a pitch, and sophomore Kaitlyn Horstdaniel hit a single in the third inning.
- All nine starters had at least one hit.
- Five players finished with three hits apiece.
- Brynna Garden hit two doubles and drove in five runs.
- Keelin McManus helped her own cause, as she had three hits (two singles and a triple), two RBI and four RBI.
- In the circle, McManus threw all five innings and struck out eight.
- Per MIAA rules, Kalamazoo batted as the visitors and scored three runs in the top of first and one run in the second inning for a 4-0 lead.
- The Comets battled back to level the score in the bottom half of the third. Senior Kaylee Clothier blasted a three-run home run and Horstdaniel hit a solo home run.
- The Hornets came back with a three-run fourth to go up 7-4.
- Clothier hit a solo home run to lead off the fifth inning.
- Kalamazoo capped its scoring with a single tally in the sixth inning.
- Clothier finished the game with a three hits (two home runs and double) and four RBI.
- Five other players each had one hit.
- Kelsey Diekman recorded three hits.
- Garden, Lizzy Rottenberk and Nina Szalkiewicz tallied two hits apiece.
- Garden and Sam Moss each drove in two runs.
- Sammi Luzarde earned the win in relief of McManus.
