ALMA, Mich. – The Olivet College softball team lost both games of a non-conference triangular today at Alma College. The Comets fell to the host Scots, 14-3, and Albion College, 15-7.

ALMA, Mich. – The Olivet College softball team lost both games of a non-conference triangular today at Alma College. The Comets fell to the host Scots, 14-3, and Albion College, 15-7.

- After the Comets scored a run in the top half of the first, the Scots answered with five runs in the home half of the first.
- Alma added another run in the second and two runs in the third to go up 8-1.
- Olivet got two runs back in the fourth on an RBI-single by freshman Sarah Shevenell and an RBI-double by sophomore Jessica Barnes.
- The Scots responded with six runs in their half of the fourth inning and then kept the Comets off the scoreboard in the fifth to end the game early due to the eight-run mercy rule.
- Olivet recorded nine total hits.
- Junior Kaylee Clothier was 3-for-3.
- Barnes had two hits, including a double.
- Shevenell was the losing pitcher after allowing 11 runs (10 earned) on 14 hits over the first three innings.
- The Scots tallied 16 hits.
- Seven players each collected two hits.
- Erin Ezell registered two hits and drove in five runs.
- Haley Ullrich recorded two doubles, while scoring a team-best three runs.
- Also having two hits were Brooke Wells, Haydn Terwilliger, Hannah Faleczyk, Daniella Little and Hannah Solomon.
- Little earned the pitching win, as she scattered the seven hits over four innings.

- The Britons took a 3-0 lead after a solo home run to lead off the first inning and two runs in the second inning.
- The Comets trimmed their deficit to 3-2 when sophomore Erin Brady hit a two-run single in the bottom half of the second.
- An Albion home run made the score 4-2 before Olivet tied the game with a pair of runs in the last half of the third inning.
- The Britons regained the lead with two runs in the fourth and put the game out of reach with a nine-run fifth inning to make the score 15-4.
- The Comets pushed across three runs in the home half of the fifth but it was not enough to prevent the run-rule ending.
- Olivet had nine hits.
- From the leadoff spot in the lineup, senior Paige Poulter tallied two hits and scored two runs.
- Also recording two hits were Shevenell and junior Lily Eagleton.
- Barnes suffered the pitching loss, as she yielded 14 runs (11 earned) on 13 hits over the first four and two-thirds innings.
- The Britons collected 15 hits, including seven for extra bases.
- Skyler Herman was 3-for-4 with three singles.
- Grace Connolly recorded two doubles in four at-bats.
- Shayn Jewell and Felicia Maximiuk each collected three RBI.
- Melanie Cosens was the winning pitcher. She threw all five innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on nine hits.
- Olivet hosts Trine (Ind.) University and Saint Mary's (Ind.) College tomorrow for a triangular inside the Cutler Athletic Complex. The Comets face Trine at 12 p.m., followed by Trine vs. Saint Mary's, and the day ends with Olivet playing Saint Mary's.
