Softball team splits non-conference triangular
ADRIAN, Mich. – The Olivet College softball team fell to Adrian College, 8-0, and scored three runs in the bottom of seventh inning to beat Kalamazoo College, 10-7, in a non-conference triangular today at the Adrian College Softball Field.

Comets score three runs in bottom of seventh to beat Kalamazoo
ADRIAN, Mich. – The Olivet College softball team fell to Adrian College, 8-0, and scored three runs in the bottom of seventh inning to beat Kalamazoo College, 10-7, in a non-conference triangular today at the Adrian College Softball Field.

- The Bulldogs scored the only run they would need in the bottom of first inning. Adrian added three runs in the fourth, two runs in the fifth and sixth inning to end the game early due to the eight-run mercy rule.
- For the game, Olivet had three hits.
- Junior Lily Eagleton went 2-for-2 with two singles.
- Freshman Sarah Shevenell tallied the third hit.
- Freshman Katie Lenz suffered the pitching loss after giving up six earned runs on 11 hits over the first five innings.
- Sophomore Jessica Barnes allowed the final two runs in the sixth.
- The Bulldogs collected 12 hits.
- Ava Ferrarelli was 3-for-3 with three doubles.
- Katie Connolly also had three hits, including a double, and drove in three runs.
- Allison TenHove earned the pitching win after throwing all six innings.

- The Comets sent 11 batters to the plate and scored seven runs on two hits and four Hornet errors in the bottom of first inning.
- The Hornets battled back to tie the game after pushing across two runs in the second, three runs in the third and two runs in the fourth.
- Kalamazoo used a two-out rally to score a run in the top half of the fifth inning and added another run in the sixth inning to go 9-7.
- Olivet used a two-out rally to push across three runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning. Senior Paige Poulter and Lenz started the inning with back-to-back singles. After two outs were recorded, a double by junior Kaylee Clothier scored Poulter and advance to third base. Senior Kassidy Zmikly struck out but reached base on a wild pitch which also scored Lenz and move Clothier to third base. On a 1-1 count, the pitch was wild and allowed Clothier to score the winning run.
- Olivet had just five hits in the game.
- Three of the hits were doubles by Clothier, and sophomores Erin Brady and Kaitlyn Horstdaniel.
- Clothier and Poulter each scored two runs.
- Shevenell was the winning pitcher, as she gave up five earned runs on 15 hits over the seven innings.
- All nine starters had at least one hit.
- Lucy Hart and Grace Peterson both recorded three hits and scored twice.
- Peterson, Sammi Luzarde and Sam Moss drove in two runs apiece.
- Keelin McManus took the pitching loss in relief of Moss.
- Olivet heads to Grand Rapids for two games tomorrow at Calvin University. The Comets play Hope College at 2 p.m., followed by a game against the host Knights.
