Olivet College’s Grubb named to CoSIDA Academic All-District team
Olivet College junior designated player/pitcher Ashlynn Grubb has been named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District VI Softball team.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College junior designated player/pitcher Ashlynn Grubb has been named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District VI Softball team. She is now eligible to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, where first-, second- and third-teams will be announced later this month.
A health science major who carries a 3.40 grade point average, Grubb finished the season with a .385 batting average to go along with 12 runs scored, 12 doubles, 21 RBI and .523 slugging percentage. Overall, she reached base safely in all except three games. In addition, Grubb had 11 multi-hit games, with hit streaks of 15 and 14 games during the season. In the circle, she posted a 10-6 record with a 2.96 ERA and 97 strikeouts in 106.1 innings pitched. In the field, Grubb did not commit an error in 27 chances.
The Academic All-District teams include student-athletes divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. Olivet is in District VI, which includes schools in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. This is the fourth year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the new College Division combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
