Greene's one-hitter lifts softball team team to 4-2 win over Calvin
Sophomore Kelsey Greene (Burr Oak) threw a complete game one-hitter, as the Olivet College softball team rallied to beat Calvin College, 4-2, in the second game of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

This game was played after being postponed Saturday, April 3, because of rain.
The Knights took advantage of two Olivet errors to plate a pair of unearned runs in the first inning. The Comets got one run back in the second when freshman Ciara Santos (Lansing/Everett) and senior Jenny Robbins (Fenton) hit back-to-back doubles to start the inning.
Olivet took the lead, 3-2, when it scored twice in the third inning. Junior Christine Daub (Hudson) led off the frame with a single and went to third after Greene hit a double to deep centerfield. After a groundout, Santos ripped a single into left-center, scoring both Daub and Greene. The Comets added an insurance run in the fourth on Greene's RBI-single.
In the circle, Greene needed 76 pitches for the complete game victory and struck out five. After the shaky first inning, she retired 18 of the last 19 batters, including the final 12, in the game and did not allow any runners to reach third base. Greene allowed just Offensively, Santos went 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBI and one run scored. Daub, Greene, junior Morgan Iloncaie (Port Huron/Imlay City) and sophomore Cortney Wernette (Remus/Chippewa Hills) each had two hits.
Olivet continues its busy week with two more league doubleheaders. On Wednesday, the Comets host Adrian College at 3:30 p.m., and on Saturday, they travel to play defending MIAA regular season champion Trine (Ind.) University at 1 p.m.
