Two softball players named to 2007 All-MIAA teams
Olivet College sophomores Kacie Rosecrants (Parma/Western) and Christina Luna (Charlotte) have been named to the 2007 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) softball teams. Rosecrants is a first-team selection, while Luna is a second-team pick.
Olivet College sophomores Kacie Rosecrants (Parma/Western) and Christina Luna (Charlotte) have been named to the 2007 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) softball teams. Rosecrants is a first-team selection, while Luna is a second-team pick. All-MIAA honors are based on a player's statistics during the 16-game league schedule.
Rosecrants started every game for the Comets at shortstop. She led the team with a .426 batting average and 20 hits to go along with two doubles, eight RBI, .532 slugging percentage and .472 on-base percentage. Luna was the Comets' starting catcher, recording a .347 batting average, 17 hits, 12 runs scored, three doubles and 12 RBI. Behind the plate, she committed only two errors in 63 chances for a .968 fielding percentage.
Junior Amy Cooper (Bath) along with sophomores Kacey Darling (Hartford), Corie Greene (Brown City), Alisha Ridsdale (Laingsburg) and Heidi Wear (Hastings/Wayland) earned coaches' honorable mention honors.
Under the direction of fourth-year Head Coach James Farnum, Olivet had a 20-12 overall record and was fifth in the MIAA with an 8-8 mark.
