The Olivet College softball team was swept by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association leader Alma College, 1-0 and 2-0, this afternoon at Scots Park in Alma.

The Olivet College softball team was swept by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association leader Alma College, 1-0 and 2-0, this afternoon at Scots Park in Alma.
In the first game, sophomore Erica Anderson (Casnovia/Kent City High School) pitched a gem and had a no-hitter through six innings. Alma scored the winning run on an Olivet error in the bottom of the seventh inning. Junior Jenn Newland (Tekonsha High School) had two base hits for the Lady Comets.
In the nightcap, Alma scored its runs on a home run in the fifth inning. Newland was the hard luck loser in the pitching circle, allowing three hits while striking out three.
Seniors Theresa Flowers (Waterford Kettering High School) and Jenna Little (Ortonville Brandon High School) and junior Beth Shunkwiler (Berrien Center/Berrien Springs High School) had a hit apiece.
The Comets will conclude the 2004 season on Tuesday, April 27, with a non-league doubleheader at Huntington (Ind.) College.
