Men’s cross country team places fourth at MIAA Championship
NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Olivet College men’s cross country team placed fourth at the 2021 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championship, hosted by Saint Mary’s (Ind.) College.

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Olivet College men's cross country team placed fourth at the 2021 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championship, hosted by Saint Mary's (Ind.) College.
- Olivet totaled 141 points, which was 12 less than fifth-place Adrian College.
- Calvin University captured the MIAA title with 22 points.
- Brandan Knepper from Calvin took first-place with a winning time of 25:07.1.
- Junior Chase Mendham had the fastest time for Olivet, as he completed the 8K course in 26 minutes and 34.37 seconds. The time placed him 21st of 114 runners.
- Sophomore Hunter Hillard was next to finish at 27:26.3 to place 39th.
- Senior Dustin Rutter clocked-in at 27:51.4.
- Senior Kyle McDowell finished the race in 28:54.4.
- Freshman Kayden Shrock covered the course in 29:08.6.
- Olivet's fourth-place finish is the second-best performance in school history at the MIAA Cross Country Championships. The all-time best finish was third in 1977.
- The finishing times for Mendham, Hillard, Rutter and Shrock were personal bests.
