Comets run at the William Vanderbilt Invitational
The Olivet College men's and women's cross country teams kicked off the 2003 season by running at the William Vanderbilt Invitational at the Van Raalte Farm in Holland. The meet was hosted by Hope College.
The Olivet College men's and women's cross country teams kicked off the 2003 season by running at the William Vanderbilt Invitational at the Van Raalte Farm in Holland. The meet was hosted by Hope College.
The men finished in fourth place with 103 points. Albion College won the invitational with 27 points, Hope was second with 38 points, and Cornerstone University was third with 93 points.
Individually, sophomore Jeremy Shephard (Kalamazoo/ Mattawan High School) placed 18th and finished the 8,000 meter course in a personal-best time of 27:32. Following Shephard were sophomore Andrew Lapham (South Lyon High School) in 19th-place (28:08), junior Chad Kaiser (Lachine/ Alpena High School) in 21st-place (28:31), sophomore Dan Kimball (National City/Oscoda High School) in 22nd-place (28:35) and junior Robert Dodson (Elsie/Ovid-Elsie High School) in 23rd-place (28:45).
On the women's side, sophomore Rebecca Dawson (Williamsburg/Elk Rapids High School) finished in 15th-place with a personal-best time of 20:08. Following Dawson were freshman Mehgan Sanson (Brown City High School) in 21:25, sophomore Rachel Strelecki (Sterling/Standish-Sterling High School) in 22:11 and senior Larissa Kequom (Charlotte High School) in 24:12.
