Men’s Volleyball: Olivet ends season with three-set loss to Fontbonne

OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet men's volleyball team closed out the 2024 season with a three-set loss to Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) rival Fontbonne (Mo.) University today at the Cutler Event Center.
- Final Score: Fontbonne defeated Olivet 25-21, 25-18, 25-21
- Location: Cutler Event Center; Olivet, Michigan
- Records: Olivet 5-25 overall, 0-9 MCVL; Fontbonne 6-19 overall, 3-6 MCVL
- In the first set, the Griffins raced out to a 3-0 lead. Olivet fought back and eventually tied the score at 16-16. Fontbonne answered with a 7-1 run and never looked back en route to a 25-21 win.
- After the Comets scored the first point of the second set, the Griffins put seven of the next eight points on the scoreboard to go up 7-2. Fontbonne held the lead for the rest of the set.
- In the third set, Olivet held an 8-7 lead. The Griffins used a 4-0 spurt to go up 11-8. The Comets closed the gap to a single point twice. After the second time at 13-12, Fontbonne scored the next two points and Olivet did not get any closer for the remainder of the set.
- Seniors Quinn Dickerson and Deontay Thomas each had nine kills.
- Senior Kai Hartman recorded eight kills.
- senior Everett Haynes dished out 31 set assists.
- Thomas topped the defense with nine digs.
