Men’s Volleyball: Olivet loses four-set match to Wabash

OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet men's volleyball team fell Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) foe Wabash (Ind.) College in four sets tonight inside the Cutler Event Center. The Little Giants won the first two sets before the Comets won the third set. Wabash ended the match with a win in the fourth set.
- Final Score: Wabash defeated Olivet 25-21, 25-19, 30-32, 25-20

- Records: Olivet 5-23 overall, 0-7 MCVL; Wabash 14-10 overall, 2-5 MCVL
- Wabash led 4-1 in the first set. Olivet came back with a 5-1 run to take its first lead, 6-5. The Comets maintained their lead until the Little Giants went ahead 13-12. Olivet responded with a 4-0 spurt. Wabash countered with a 7-1 run to go ahead by three points, 20-17, and did not give up the lead for the rest of the set.
- In the second set, the Little Giants held the lead from the start to the finish.
- Early in the third set, the Comets used a 5-0 run to turn a 7-4 deficit into a 9-7 lead. Wabash fought back to gain a one-point lead on three occasions. After the third time at 14-13, neither team had more than a two-point lead until the Little Giants got to set and match point at 24-21.
- Two kills for the Comets and a Wabash attack error leveled the score. The Little Giants scored the next point to earn another set point, but Olivet answered with two points on kills by senior Kai Hartman to get to its own set point. The teams traded points to create four tied scores. A Little Giant kill put them up 30-29. A service error evened the score and back-to-back kills for senior Deontay Thomas handed the set to Olivet.
- Two Comet attack errors helped Wabash take a 2-0 lead in the fourth set. Olivet countered with two Hartman kills and an attack error to regain the lead 3-2. The Little Giants scored the next four points and did not trail for the remainder of the set.
- For the match, Olivet totaled 50 kills.
- Senior Quinn Dickerson led the way with 16, while hitting at a .323 clip and recording eight blocks (three solo and five assisted).
- Thomas was next with 12 kills to go along with a team-leading 11 digs.
- Senior Everett Haynes recorded 24 set assists.
- Hartman tallied 18 set assists.
- The Comets celebrate Senior Day tomorrow when they host Fontbonne (Mo.) University at 1 p.m.
