Men’s volleyball team sweeps doubleheader at Wilson
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Olivet College men’s volleyball team won two matches today over Wilson (Pa.) College in today at Nelson Gymnasium. The Comets swept the first match in three sets before winning the second match in four sets.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Olivet College men's volleyball team won two matches today over Wilson (Pa.) College in today at Nelson Gymnasium. The Comets swept the first match in three sets before winning the second match in four sets.
- Final Scores: Olivet defeated Wilson 25-20, 25-22, 25-19; Olivet defeated Wilson 25-15, 25-16, 17-25, 25-14

- Records: Olivet 6-9 overall, Wilson 5-10 overall
- The Comets built a 9-4 lead in the first set before the Phoenix went on a 4-0 run to cut their deficit down to a single point. The teams traded 2-0 spurts to keep the score at a one-point difference. Olivet then countered with a 10-2 run to stretch its lead to nine points, 22-13. Wilson scored seven of the final 10 points, but it was not enough, as the Comets won the set, 25-20.
- The Phoenix led by three points, 7-4, early in the second set. Olivet came back with a 5-1 run to take a 9-8 lead. Wilson rallied with 5-2 spurt to go up 13-11. Four straight Phoenix attack errors put the Comets ahead 15-13. Olivet did not relinquish the lead for the rest of the set.
- The Comets led the third set from start-to-finish, as they raced to a 5-0 lead.
- Olivet totaled 38 kills.
- Junior Deontay Thomas led all players with 13 kills.
- Sophomore Quinn Dickerson and junior Kai Hartman each had eight kills.
- Junior Everett Haynes collected 29 set assists.
- Haynes and junior Will Mensching recorded 10 digs apiece.
- Xavier Webber had nine of the 19 Wilson kills.
- Jonathan Minnick registered 18 set assists.
- Saria Alshaikhail notched 10 digs.
- The Comets never trailed in the first two sets.
- Wilson turned the tide and had a wire-to-wire lead in the third set.
- The Phoenix scored the first point of the fourth set. Olivet responded with a 7-1 run and forced Wilson to call a timeout. The Phoenix closed the gap to three points, 13-10, before ended the set on a 12-4 run.
- Olivet recorded 47 kills and a .219 attack percentage.
- Thomas and sophomore Ethan Valente tallied 11 kills apiece.
- Dickerson was next with 10 kills.
- Haynes dished out 39 set assists.
- Hartman, Haynes and senior Dakota Galeazzi each had 11 digs.
- Webber topped the team with seven kills.
- Minnick had a team-high 14 set assists and 11 digs.
- Olivet stays in Pennsylvania and makes a three-hour drive to Dallas to participate Saturday in the Misericordia University Triangular. The Comets face the host Cougars at 11 a.m., followed by a match against Wilkes (Pa.) University.
