Men’s volleyball team drops three-set match to Baldwin Wallace
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men’s volleyball team fell to Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) rival Baldwin Wallace University today inside the Cutler Event Center. The Yellow Jackets won 25-17, 25-19 and 25-14.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's volleyball team fell to Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) rival Baldwin Wallace University today inside the Cutler Event Center. The Yellow Jackets won 25-17, 25-19 and 25-14.

- After the Comets scored the first point of the opening set, the Yellow Jackets scored the next three points. Olivet answered with a 3-1 run to take the lead back, 5-4. The teams traded points to create six tied scores. Following the last one at 10-10, BW used a kill and Comet attack error to go up 12-10. A kill by junior Deontay Thomas made the score 12-11 but Olivet would not get any closer for the remainder of the set.
- Down 6-2 in the second set, the Comets reeled off five straight points to take their first lead of the set, 7-6. The Yellow Jackets scored the next two points before Olivet evened the score at 8-8, 9-9 and 10-10. BW put seven of the next nine points on the scoreboard for a 17-12 advantage. Two kills for Thomas and a service ace for junior Will Menching closed the gap to two points, 17-15. The Yellow Jackets ended the set on an 8-4 run.
- BW scored the first three points of the third set and never looked back. The 11-point margin at the end was the Yellow Jackets' largest lead of the set.
- For the match, BW totaled 41 kills while hitting at a .408 clip. The Comets had 21 kills and posted a .039 attack percentage.
- Thomas slammed down a team-best seven kills.
- Sophomore Ethan Valente was next with five kills.
- Junior Everett Haynes recorded a team-best 16 set assists and eight digs.
- Sophomore Quinn Dickerson had four blocks (one solo and three assisted).
- Nick Mazzone finished with a match-high 12 kills.
- Michael Beard notched 11 kills with only one error 18 attempts for a .556 hitting percentage.
- Brandon Long dished out 35 set assists.
- Aiden Kim collected a match-best 10 digs.
- The Comets are off until Thursday, March 16, when they play two matches at Wilson (Pa.) College. First serve from the first match at Gannett Memorial Field House in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, is scheduled for 3 p.m.
