Men’s volleyball team ends season with three-set loss to Fontbonne
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men’s volleyball team closed the curtain on the 2022 season with a three-set loss (25-16, 25-22, 25-22) to Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) foe Fontbonne (Mo.) University. With the win, the Griffins capture the 2022 MCVL regular season title.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's volleyball team closed the curtain on the 2022 season with a three-set loss (25-16, 25-22, 25-22) to Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) foe Fontbonne (Mo.) University. With the win, the Griffins capture the 2022 MCVL regular season title.

- The Comets used a Griffin service error, three kills by sophomore Kai Hartman and a service ace by junior Dakota Galeazzi to take a 5-0 lead in the first set. Fontbonne answered with a 6-1 run to even the score. Olivet put the next three of the next four points on the scoreboard to go up 9-7. The Griffins came back with a 7-0 spurt for a 14-9 lead, which they did not relinquish for the rest of the set.
- In the second set, the Comets built a four-point cushion, 11-7. A 7-1 run put Fontbonne ahead by a 14-12 score. Olivet was able to keep the score close for the remainder of the set, trailing by just one point on six occasions. After the last time at 23-22, the Griffins had back-to-back kills to end the set in their favor.
- In the third set, Fontbonne had a three-point advantage, 11-8. The Comets fought back to tie the score at 13-13. After a Griffin point, a 3-0 Olivet run made the score 16-14. The teams traded points until two straight Comet kills put them ahead by three, 22-19. Fontbonne closed the set with a 6-0 run to win it, 25-22.
- Hartman finished with a match-best 15 kills.
- Sophomore Deontay Thomas tallied 10 kills and recorded a team-best seven digs.
- Sophomore Everett Haynes registered 26 set assists.
- Lee Kreutzman topped Fontbonne with eight kills and seven digs.
- Diego Cruz added five kills.
- Tengis Kelley collected 23 set assists.
