Men’s volleyball team loses in three sets to Concordia Chicago

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's volleyball team lost a three-set non-conference match to Concordia University Chicago (Ill.) tonight at the Cutler Event Center.

Records: Olivet 1-4 overall, Concordia Chicago 1-3 overall
- After the Comets scored the first point of the first set, the Cougars rattled off four straight points. Concordia did not give up the lead for the rest of the set, winning it by a 25-17 score.
- Besides a 1-1 tie, Concordia had a wire-to-wire lead in the second set.
- Olivet raced out to a 3-0 lead in the third set. The Cougars battled back to tie the score at 4-4. The teams traded points, resulting in three more tied scores. After the last time at 7-7, Concordia put two points on the scoreboard to go up 9-7. The Comets scored the next point but would not get any closer for the rest of the set.
- Olivet finished the match with 29 kills and posted a .108 attack percentage.
- Sophomore Deontay Thomas recorded a team-best 15 kills and hit at a .189 clip.
- Sophomore Kai Hartman tallied seven kills.
- Freshman Ethan Valente registered five kills and .214 hitting percentage.
- Sophomore Everett Haynes dished out 25 set assists.
- Thomas, Valente and Junior Dakota Galeazzi each collected seven digs.
- Concordia had 43 kills and .385 attack percentage.
- Luke Vozenilek led all players with 21 kills. He had one error on 32 attempts for a .625 attack percentage.
- Tyler Holubek and Virgilio Rodriguez were next with five kills apiece.
- Holubek recorded 33 set assists.
- Vozenilek tallied eight digs.
- The Comets travel to Whiting, Indiana, tomorrow for a match against Calumet College of St. Joseph. First serve is set for 2 p.m. ET.
