Men’s volleyball falls to Indiana Tech in three sets

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Olivet College men's volleyball team was on the losing end of a three-set match to Indiana Institute of Technology this evening at the Schaefer Center.
Final Score: Indiana Tech def. Olivet 25-21, 25-13, 25-20

Records: Olivet 1-11 overall, Indiana Tech 9-12 overall
- In the first set, the Comets led by five points on three occasions. After the last time at 13-8, the Warriors went on 12-1 run to take their own five-point lead, 19-14. Olivet fought back and closed the gap to a single point, 22-21. Indiana Tech put the final three points on the scoreboard to win the set 25-21.
- The Warriors raced out to an 11-3 lead in the second set. Olivet trimmed its deficit down to six points twice but it would not get any closer for the rest of the set.
- The third set was back-and-forth. Indiana Tech gained the largest lead for either team at 13-10. The Comets came back to tie the score at 15-15. The Warriors scored the next point on a kill and never looked back.
- Senior Aaron Giorgi tallied a team-best eight kills, followed by freshman Aaron Smith with seven.
- Sophomore Jacob Kelly dished out a team-leading 13 set assists, while Giorgi had nine.
- Giorgi and Smith each had seven digs.
- Mason Milan led the team with 12 kills.
- Daynte Stewart and Cameron Ternent were next with seven kills apiece, followed by Chase Christiansen with six.
- Chandler Davis recorded a match-best 25 set assists.
- Ternent topped the Warriors with five service aces.
- Joey Hermes had a team-best 10 digs.
- Olivet hosts the Warriors tomorrow for its home-opener. First serve from the Upton Center Gymnasium is 7 p.m.
