Men’s volleyball tripped up at Goshen

GOSHEN, Ind. – The Olivet College men's volleyball team was defeated by Goshen (Ind.) College in three sets (25-23, 25-17, 25-13) this evening at Ruth Gunden Gymnasium.

- The Comets jumped out to a 4-0 lead before the Maple Leafs answered with a 7-2 run to gain their first lead. Olivet scored the next point on a kill by senior Deivan Prince. Goshen then put the next two points on the scoreboard and eventually led by four points, 16-12. The Comets battled back with a 5-1 spurt to tie the score at 17-17. The Maple Leafs came back to lead by three points, 21-18. Olivet did not go down without a fight, as it tied the score at 22-22 and 23-23. A Comet service error and attack error gave the set win to Goshen, 25-23.
- Olivet scored the first point of the second set. The Maple Leafs scored the next three points and did not relinquish their lead for the remainder of the set.
- Goshen never trailed in the third set.
- Senior Brock Pringle and freshman Aaron Smith each had 10 kills.
- Pringle had three errors on 25 attempts for a team-high .280 attack percentage.
- Making his first collegiate start, sophomore Jacob Kelly dished out 27 set assists.
- Pringle topped the defense with a match-high 11 digs, followed by Smith with eight and Prince with seven.
- Alexander Rabadzhiev topped all players with 18 kills and .469 attack percentage.
- Michael Wahl recorded 28 set assists.
- Elias Baer registered a team-best 10 digs.
- Olivet is off until next Wednesday, March 4, when it travels to play Indiana Tech at 7:30 p.m.
