Fremeau tabbed MIAA Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The University of Olivet sophomore Owen Fremeau has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Fremeau began the outdoor season by winning three throwing events at the Comet Triangular. He won the hammer throw and shot put with UOlivet outdoor records at 54.61m (179 feet, 2 inches) and 15.85m (52 feet), respectively. In addition, the shot put mark is No. 8 on the NCAA Division III Outdoor Performance list, while the hammer mark ranks No. 15. Fremeau's other win was in the discus throw (45.72m / 150 feet).
"Owen's progress throughout the indoor season into his first outdoor competition this year has been exciting." said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "He continues to make improvements and works hard to improve his marks. Owen and Coach (Daustin) Martin work closely to improve his technique and work on the little things so he can progress throughout the season. He now has school records in every event he throws."
Olivet competes Friday and Saturday at the College of Wooster (Ohio) Invitational.
