Fremeau shatters weight throw record at CMU Jack Skoog Open

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – Sophomore Owen Fremeau shattered the weight throw record, as The University of Olivet men's indoor track and field team competed today at the Central Michigan University / Jack Skoog Open.
FOR THE COMETS
- Fremeau won the weight throw with a school-record heave of 60 feet, 1/2 inch. The mark bested the previous record by more than four meters and is tied for seventh on the NCAA DIII Indoor performance list. He also finished first in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 53 feet, 3/4 inches. This mark ranks second all-time at Olivet and is fifth on the DIII performance list.
- Sophomore DeVondre Chandler took first in the high jump. He cleared the bar at 6 feet, 6-3/4 inches, which is tied for seventh on the DIII performance list.
- Sophomore Kyle Redd had the fastest time in the 60-meter dash at a personal-best 7.09 seconds. The time is tied for third in Olivet history.
- Sophomore Peter Moore was first in the triple jump, leaping a personal-best 41 feet, 5-3/4 inches. The mark is third all-time at Olivet.
- Fremeau led a contingent of five Comets in the top eight of the shot put. They were sophomore Austin Cole in fourth (44 feet, 6-1/4 inches), freshman Lucas Salinas in fifth (41 feet, 8-3/4 inches), freshman Yrral Campbell in sixth (41 feet, 2-1/4 inches) and freshman Dontrell Thomas in eighth (39 feet, 11-1/4 inches).
- Campbell and Salinas were fifth (43 feet, 4-1/2 inches) and seventh (42 feet, 6 inches), respectively in the weight throw. Those performances are ninth and 10th best in school history.
- Freshman Tye Kirschner led a 4-5-8 Olivet finish in the long jump. He leaped 19 feet, 9-3/4 inches, followed by junior Charles Goldman (19 feet, 1-1/2 inches) and junior Kameron Newman (18 feet, 10 inches).
- Freshman Mason Korn cleared the pole vault at 11 feet, 5-3/4 inches, which is sixth all-time at Olivet.
- Kirschner paced a 3-6-7 Comet finish in the 60-meter hurdles. His time was 8.87 seconds, followed by freshman Jadyn Brown (9.19) and sophomore Kem Blassingame (9.22). Blassingame's preliminary time, 9.10 seconds, ranks third in school history, while Brown's finals time is fourth.
- The Comets also had three runners place in the top eight of the 200-meter dash. Redd led the way in second (23.39), followed by freshman Tyreke Brown in third (24.25) and sophomore Luke Leighton tied for seventh (24.53).
- Senior Kayden Shrock finished seventh in the 600-meter run (1:29.09).
- Sophomore Deegan Bodell completed the 3,000-meter run in a personal-best time of 9:46.28.
- Senior Charles Miller placed sixth in the 60-meter dash (7.35).
