HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Olivet College senior Jordon Brown has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Track Athlete of the Week.
At the Trine University Sean Brady Invitational, Brown broke two school indoor records – 60-meter dash with a finals time of 7.07 seconds and 200-meter dash with a time of 22.69 seconds. The previous record in the 60-meter dash was 7.08 seconds by John Adams III on January 20, 2018, and Brown held the record in the 200-meter dash at 22.74 seconds on February 19, 2022. On Saturday, he was first among non-scholarship runners in both races. Brown also ran the second leg of the 4x400-meter relay (3:33.63).
"Jordon's performances at our first indoor meet reflect the training he has put in since the fall," said Olivet head track and field coach Karen Lutzke. "After qualifying for outdoor nationals in the spring, Jordon wants to improve this year. One of the special qualities about Jordon is he is always encouraging and challenging his teammates during practice and competition. He is a passionate and emotional competitor who loves to compete."
Brown and the Comets are back in action Saturday at the Central Michigan University/Jack Skoog Open.
