Men’s indoor track and field team places third at Hillsdale Tune-Up
HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Olivet College men’s track and field team finished third at the Hillsdale College Open today at the Biermann Athletic Center.

HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Olivet College men's track and field team finished third at the Hillsdale College Open today at the Biermann Athletic Center.
- Olivet placed 1-2 in the mile run. Sophomore Hayden Germain won the race in a personal-best time of 4:28.36 and junior Chase Mendham was second in 4:34.11.
- Senior Kyle McDowell clocked-in with the fastest time in the 400-meter dash (50.25).
- Junior Jordon Brown was second in the long jump (22 feet, 3/4 inch) and broke the school record in the 200-meter dash with a third-place time of 22.74 seconds.
- Junior Byron Pearce was the runner-up in the shot put (42 feet, 9-3/4 inches) and fourth in the weight throw with a personal-best mark of 50 feet, 9-1/4 inches.
- Junior Tyler Chavalia finished third in the 60-meter dash (7.20).
- Junior Denver Orlando cleared the pole vault bar at 13 feet, 11-3/4 inches to place third.
- Freshman Jackson Arkles ran a season-best time of 2:15.83 in the 800-meter run.
- Junior John C Downey had a personal-best time of 9.64 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.
- Freshman Jacob Kelley recorded a season-best mark of 39 feet, 11-1/4 inches in the weight throw.
- The Comets are back in action next Saturday, February 26, at the 2022 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championship. Trine (Ind.) University is the host school. Field events are tentatively set to start at 11 a.m., followed by running events at 12:30 p.m.
