Track & field student-athletes compete at last chance meets
OLIVET, Mich. – A select group of Olivet College men’s and women’s track & field student-athletes competed at last chance meets over the last three days. The first group participated Thursday and Friday at the North Central (Ill.) College/Dr. Keeler Invitational. The second group competed today at the University of Toledo (Ohio) Rocket Invitational.

OLIVET, Mich. – A select group of Olivet College men's and women's track & field student-athletes competed at last chance meets over the last three days. The first group participated Thursday and Friday at the North Central (Ill.) College/Dr. Keeler Invitational. The second group competed today at the University of Toledo (Ohio) Rocket Invitational.
- At North Central:
- The most success was turned in by Olivet's 4x400-meter relay team of sophomore Jordon Brown, freshman Hayden Germain, senior Tyler Peck and junior Kyle McDowell. They clocked-in with a time of 3:16.00, which moves them up to No. 12 among "A" relays on the NCAA Division III Performance List.
- Brown and freshman Jordon Butler entered in the long jump. Brown's mark of 7.09 meters did not improve on his season-best mark of 7.16 meters, which is tied for 15th on NCAA DIII Performance List. Butler leaped 6.42 meters, which is over two feet less than his season-best mark of 6.76 meters.
- Peck also ran in the 400-meter dash. His time of 50.52 seconds was one-half second slower than his career-best time of 50.02 seconds.
- At Toledo:
- Senior Jacob Smith improved on his season-best with a mark of 15.71 meters in the shot put. The performance keeps him at No. 24 on the NCAA DIII Performance List.
- Sophomore Bradley Hawkins had a mark of 47.64 meters in the hammer throw. The mark was six feet, one inch less than his school-record throw of 162 feet, 4 inches.
- Junior Lillian Albaugh had a mark of 12.19 meters in the shot put, which was 8-1/4 inches shorter than her season-best mark.
- The Comets are likely to participate in another last chance meet next week. The 2021 NCAA Division III National Outdoor Track & Field Championships are May 27-29 at the Irwin Belk Stadium in Greensboro, North Carolina.
