Men’s track and field team wins Comet Tune-up
OLIVET, Mich. – Behind seven first-place finishes, the Olivet College men’s track and field team won the 2021 Comet Tune-up today on the Kolassa Track and inside the Cutler Athletic Complex.

OLIVET, Mich. – Behind seven first-place finishes, the Olivet College men's track and field team won the 2021 Comet Tune-up today on the Kolassa Track and inside the Cutler Athletic Complex.
- Despite a second-place finish in the hammer throw, junior Bradley Hawkins broke the school record with a 162 feet, 4 inch toss. He also had a personal-best mark of 126 feet, 2 inches in the discus throw.
- Sophomore Jordon Butler led a 1-2 Olivet finish in the 110-meter high hurdles, crossing the finish line in 15.37 seconds. Sophomore John C Downey was second in 18.52 seconds.
- Sophomore William Reed paced a 1-2 Comet finish in the 200-meter dash, winning the race in 22.99 seconds. Freshman Charles Miller finished second in 23.65 seconds.
- Olivet had the top three finishers in the long jump. Sophomore Jordon Brown was first at 22 feet, 7-3/4 inches, followed by Butler (22 feet, 1 inch) and sophomore Elijah Lewis (20 feet, 1/4 inch). Brown's and Butler's marks were season-bests.
- Lewis claimed the top spot in the triple jump, leaping 41 feet, 6 inches.
- Sophomore Denver Orlando took first-place in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 13 feet, 5-1/4 inches.
- Senior Jacob Smith won the shot put with a 50 feet, 7-1/4 inch toss.
- The 4x400-meter relay quartet of freshman Hayden Germain, senior Tyler Peck, sophomore Zac Schneck and junior Kyle McDowell had the fastest time at 3:27.89.
- Junior Byron Pearce posted personal-bests in the discus throw (122 feet, 7 inches) and shot put (41 feet, 1/4 inch).
- Junior Isaiah Bailey had a lifetime-best in the hammer throw (121 feet).

- The Comets now prepare for the 2021 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Field Day next Thursday and Friday, May 6-7. Alma College is the host school.
