Three event winners, men’s indoor track and field team finishes third at Trine Indoor Meet
ANGOLA, Ind. – In its final tune-up before the 2021 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships, the Olivet College men’s track and field team finished third today at the Trine University Indoor Meet. The meet was at the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center. The Comets totaled 88 points, one point behind second-place Albion College.

ANGOLA, Ind. – In its final tune-up before the 2021 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships, the Olivet College men's track and field team finished third today at the Trine University Indoor Meet. The meet was at the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center. The Comets totaled 88 points, one point behind second-place Albion College.
- Sophomore Jordon Butler won the long jump (22 feet, 9-3/4") and placed second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.58). His long jump performance moves him up to seventh on the NCAA DIII Indoor Performance List.
- Junior Kyle McDowell led a 1-2-3 Olivet finish in the 400-meter dash, crossing the finish line in a season-best time of 49.76 seconds. Sophomore Jordon Brown was second, 50.30, followed by senior Tyler Peck, 51.31. Brown's and Peck's times were career-best indoor marks. Converting the time, McDowell is now eighth on the NCAA DIII Performance List.
- Sophomore Denver Orlando claimed the top spot in the pole vault with an indoor school-record mark of 14 feet, 2-3/4 inches. He previously held the record at 14 feet, 1/2 inch.
- Freshman Hunter Hillard placed second in the mile run with a season-best time of 4:44.39.
- Senior Jacob Smith posted the second-best mark in the shot put with a season-best performance of 52 feet, 8-1/4 inches. He climbs to ninth on the NCAA DIII Performance List.
- Season-best performances were turned in by:
- Fernando Alamillo-Jimenez: 400-meter dash (58.58)
- Isaiah Bailey: shot put (31'6-1/2")
- Jaden Costa: 3,000-meter run (9:46.07)
- Bradley Hawkins: shot put (42'0") … also a career-best indoor mark.
- Dustin Rutter: 800-meter run (2:05.08)
- Zac Schneck: 400-meter run (56.88)
- David Sinkler: weight throw (38'1/4")
- The Comets return to Trine next Saturday, March 6, for the 2021 MIAA Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships. Field events get started at 10 a.m., followed by running events at 4 p.m.
NOTE: To achieve a season-best performance above, the student-athlete must have competed in an event at least one other time this season.
