FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College sophomore Kyle McDowell has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Track Athlete of the Week.
McDowell completed the 800-meter run in a personal-best time of 1:58.04 at the Saginaw Valley State University/Jet's Pizza Invitational. He also ran the second leg of the distance medley relay and 4x400-meter relay.
"Kyle has continued to make progress throughout the fall and it showed at the SVSU meet this past weekend," said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "He ran the 400-meter legs on both relays and had outstanding splits for the first meet of the season as well as his 800m race when he led from the gun and won his heat."
McDowell and the Comets return to action Saturday at the Grand Valley State University/Mike Lints Alumni Open.
