Track and field teams participate in Hillsdale Wide Track Classic
The Olivet College men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams participated in the two-day Hillsdale College Wide Track Classic inside the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center in Hillsdale.

HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's indoor track & field teams participated in the two-day Hillsdale College Wide Track Classic inside the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center in Hillsdale.
FOR THE MEN
- Zane Paksi cleared the pole vault bar at 12 feet and 4-1/2 inches to place fourth of 12 competitors.
- Brad Thomas placed eighth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:43.36.
- John Adams III advanced to the semifinals in the 60-meter dash. His preliminary time, 7.17 seconds, on Friday was 15th-fastest of 50 runners. In the semifinals, he ran slower at 7.29 seconds.
- In the men's 3,000-meter championship race on Friday, Bruce Baker finished in sixth-place with a time of 9:01.09.
- On Saturday, Jacob Smith broke the school record in the shot put with a 46 foot and 4-3/4 inch toss.
- Dewan Hawthorne won his and finished ninth in the 600-meter run at 1:24.90.
- The 1,600-meter relay quartet of Hawthorne, Walter Love III, Tyler Chavalia and Ernesto Gutierrez crossed the line in seventh-place with a time of 3:38.21.
FOR THE WOMEN
- Nicole Zerfas had the Comets' top finish, placing sixth in the 800-meter run at 2:32.73.
- Isabelle Leon finished ninth in the mile run with a time of 5:34.16.
- Michaela Kaliniak had the seventh-best performance in the pole vault, as she went over the bar at 10 feet and 2-3/4 inches.
