School records in 800 broken and other personal-bests set at Al Owens Classic
Senior Connor Bauserman and junior Isabelle Leon broke the school record in the 800-meter run to lead the Olivet College track & field teams at the Al Owens Classic, hosted by Grand Valley State University. In addition to their performances, other student-athletes set new personal- or season-bests.

ALLENDALE, Mich. – Senior Connor Bauserman and junior Isabelle Leon broke the school record in the 800-meter run to lead the Olivet College track & field teams at the Al Owens Classic, hosted by Grand Valley State University. In addition to their performances, other student-athletes set new personal- or season-bests.
FOR THE WOMEN
- Leon completed the 800 in 2:22.42. She previously held the record at 2:23.80.
- Sophomore Madison Grace led a trio of Comets in the javelin and had a personal-best toss of 83 feet, 11 inches. Also in the event, sophomore Zoe Feighner posted a career-best mark of 71 feet, 5 inches.
- Grace also had a PR in the hammer throw with a 116 feet, 7 inches.
- Sophomore Kimberly Barber posted a personal-best performance of 17 feet, 3/4 inch in the long jump.
- Senior Brianna Wiles ran a lifetime-best time of 2:26.48 in the 800-meter run.
- Junior Nicole Zerfas completed the 1,500-meter run in a personal-best time of 5:13.47.
- The 4x100-meter relay quartet of Barber, Wiles, Leon and junior Michaela Kaliniak clocked-in with a season-best time of 52.67 seconds.
FOR THE MEN
- Bauserman placed third in the 800 with a time of 1:52.00, which currently ranks No. 10 on the NCAA Division III performance list. Jalen Weaver held the record previously at 1:52.43.
- Also in the 800, freshmen James Thurman and Zach Meharg had personal-best times of 2:18.18 and 2:21.90, respectively.
- Sophomore Kory Slaby had a personal-best throw of 124 feet, 5 inches in the hammer throw.

- Olivet now prepares for the Hillsdale College "Gina" Relays next Thursday-Saturday, April 27-29.
