Track & field teams compete at Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational
The Olivet College men’s and women’s track & field teams competed at the two-day Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational, hosted by Michigan State University and held inside Ralph Young Field, Munn Field and Jenison Field House in East Lansing. At the meet, several Comets set new personal-bests.

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's track & field teams competed at the two-day Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational, hosted by Michigan State University and held inside Ralph Young Field, Munn Field and Jenison Field House in East Lansing. At the meet, several Comets set new personal-bests.
FOR THE MEN
- Junior Mitchell Smith broke the school record in the hammer throw with a 137 feet, 1 inch toss.
- Freshman Joren Ruhf was third in the 400-meter run with a time of 52.23 seconds. Junior Miguel Marin completed the 400 in a career-best time of 55.32 seconds.
- Sophomore Kory Slaby recorded a personal-best throw of 138 feet, 2 inches in the javelin throw and 107 feet, 1 inch in the discus throw.
- Senior Connor Bauserman ran the 1,500-meter run for the first time in his Comet career and finished the race in 3:58.85. The time currently ranks first among all MIAA runners.
- Also in the 1,500, sophomore Brad Thomas and freshman James Thurman had PRs at 4:23.85 and 4:42.71, respectively.
FOR THE WOMEN
- Sophomore Nicole Sebok posted a personal-best time of 5:19.18 in the 1,500-meter run.
- Sophomore Zoe Feighner had a personal-best throw of 66 feet, 5 inches in the javelin throw.
- Sophomore Madison Grace had a career-best performance in the discus throw at 110 feet, 10 inches.
- Junior Isabelle Leon won her heat and placed eighth overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.96.
- Sophomore Kimberly Barber participated in the 100-meter dash (:13.12), long jump (15 feet, 11 inches) and triple jump (33 feet, 8-3/4 inches).
UP NEXT
- Olivet is back in action next Saturday, April 8, at the Ferris State University Bulldog Invitational. Action gets under way with track events starting at 11 a.m. followed by the field events at noon.
