Caldwell and Ray earn All-MIAA Track and Field honors
Olivet College sophomore Sarah Caldwell (Bronson) and freshman David Ray (Lansing/Eastern) have been named to the 2009 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Track and Field teams.
Olivet College sophomore Sarah Caldwell (Bronson) and freshman David Ray (Lansing/Eastern) have been named to the 2009 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Track and Field teams.
Caldwell was an at-large selection after finishing second in the 400-meter dash at the 2009 MIAA Field Day. In the race, she broke her own school record with a time of 58.92 seconds. As the conference champion in the 110-meter high hurdles, Ray was an automatic selection, completing the race in 15.47 seconds. He was also second in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking-in at 55.1 seconds. Earlier this season, Ray ran an NCAA Championships provisional qualifying time of 14.82 seconds in the 110 hurdles. He will find out May 17 if his time will make the cut for the championships May 21-23 at Marietta (Ohio) College.
Caldwell is the third female in Olivet history to earn All-MIAA honors in track and field, and the first since Adrianne Thompson in 2000. The last male to be an All-MIAA track and field athlete in school history was Nick Jensen in 1998.
