The Olivet College track and field teams competed Friday and Saturday at the Hillsdale College "Gina" Relays.
The highlight of the meet was turned in by freshman David Ray (Lansing/Eastern). He ran the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.82 seconds. The time was a NCAA provisional qualifying standard, and also broke the school record. The previous school record was 14.90 seconds by James Jackson in 1981. Ray also set a personal best time of 55.51 seconds in the 400 meter hurdles. For the women, sophomore Sarah Caldwell (Bronson) bettered her own school record in the 400-meter run with a time of 59.08 seconds.
"Overall, we had a great meet," said first-year Head Coach Angela Goodman. "Many of our athletes accomplished personal and season bests."
The Comets will now prepare for the 2009 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Field Day Thursday and Friday, April 30-May 1 at Albion College.
