The top finisher for the Comet women were led by sophomore Sarah Caldwell (Bronson), who broke the school record and finished in second-place in the 400-meter run. In each of the first three competitions this spring, she has lowered the school record. Caldwell first broke the school record with a time of 1:02.33 at the Goshen Invitational. Last weekend at the Ferris State Invitational, she ran faster by more than two seconds, 1:01.21, and today, she ran the race in 59.83 seconds.
The highest finisher for the Comet men was freshman David Ray (Lansing), who placed second in the 110-meter hurdles (:15.85). He was also fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (:58.14). Freshman Mike Martin (Caledonia/Wayland) was third in the 200-meter dash (:22.30) and sixth in the 100-meter dash (:11.26). Olivet returns to action next Saturday, April 18, when it hosts the Comet Invitational at the Kolassa Track and Field Stadium inside the Cutler Athletic Complex. The meet is believed to be the first-ever track and field meet in school history.
