Men’s tennis falls to Adrian in season-opener

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Olivet College men's tennis team lost 8-1 to Adrian College in its season-opener as well as first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) match today inside the Minges Creek Athletic Club.

- The Bulldogs swept the three doubles flights and won 5-of-6 singles flights to post the 8-1 win.
- Olivet's lone win came at the No. 1 singles position, where sophomore Gabe Hand rallied for the victory. He lost the first set 6-4 before bouncing back to win the second set 7-6, with a 7-4 tiebreaker. The match was decided on a super-tiebreaker for the third set, which Hand won 10-7.
- Junior Sam Vondra fell in a close match at No. 3 singles. He lost the first set, 6-3, before bouncing back for a second set win 7-6, with a 7-4 tiebreaker, and lost the super-tiebreaker by a 10-7 score.
- In his collegiate debut, freshman Colin Moore suffered a narrow defeat at No. 6 singles. After falling 7-5 in the first set, he rolled to a 6-1 win in the second set. He lost the super-tiebreaker, 12-10.
- The Comets play a non-conference match next Friday, April 1, at Grace Christian College.
