Men’s tennis team falls to Cornerstone 7-0 in season-opener
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College men’s tennis team fell to Cornerstone University, 7-0, in its 2020-21 season-opener this afternoon at NorthPointe Christian School in Grand Rapids.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College men's tennis team fell to Cornerstone University, 7-0, in its 2020-21 season-opener this afternoon at NorthPointe Christian School in Grand Rapids.

Records: Olivet 0-1 overall, Cornerstone 1-0 overall
- Since Cornerstone is an NAIA school, the NAIA scoring rules were used in the match. One of those rules is the school who wins 2-of-3 or all the doubles flights earns one team point.
- The Golden Eagles swept the three doubles flights to go up 1-0. Cornerstone then swept the six singles matches in straight sets for the 7-0 win.
- In doubles, the No. 1 duo of freshman Gabe Hand and junior Benjamin Morrow won the most games in a 6-3 setback to John Cocoma and Aliaksei Kanstantsin.
- In singles, Morrow lost 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 3 slot. Freshman Jack Hadley also won four total games, losing 6-2, 6-2, at the No. 5 position.
- The Comets host Concordia University-Ann Arbor next Saturday, September 12. The match at the Marshall High School Tennis Courts gets under way at 12 p.m.
