Olivet sweeps MIAA Swimmer of the Week awards
HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – The University of Olivet senior Treyton Gabrielson and freshman Bethany Stowell have been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's and Women's Swimmers of the Week
Gabrielson won the 500-yard freestyle (5:20.28), took second in the 100-yard individual medley (1:00.97) and placed third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.95) against Anderson (Ind.) University in a non-conference dual meet.
"Trey had a great meet at Anderson and his hard work has begun to pay off," said Olivet interim head coach Rob Brownell. "I am excited to see where these performances take him the rest of his senior season."
Stowell was first in the 100-yard individual medley (1:07.00) and second in the 200-yard backstroke against Anderson. Both times were season bests for her. Stowell also started off the 200-yard medley relay with a 29.81 second backstroke split. The relay finished second with a time of 2:05.13.
"I am thrilled to see her being recognized for her accomplishments," said Brownell. "Bethany will be a great talent for Olivet for the rest of this season and in future seasons."
