Swimming teams drop MIAA dual meets to Hope and Kalamazoo
HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College men’s and women’s swimming teams suffered losses to Hope College and Kalamazoo College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association dual meets tonight at the Holland Aquatic Center. The men fell to the Hornets, 178-48, and Flying Dutchmen, 191-32. The women lost 161-53 to Kalamazoo and 176-35 to Hope.

HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's swimming teams suffered losses to Hope College and Kalamazoo College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association dual meets tonight at the Holland Aquatic Center. The men fell to the Hornets, 178-48, and Flying Dutchmen, 191-32. The women lost 161-53 to Kalamazoo and 176-35 to Hope.
- Olivet's best individual finish was fourth-place by sophomore Seth Kading in the 200-yard backstroke (2:13.35) and sophomore Landon Morgan in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.04).
- To end the meet, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of senior Takato Timmerman, Kading, Morgan and senior Carter Moore finished fourth behind three Hope relays. Their time was 1:30.89.
- Junior Jennifer Mann was one of two swimmers to win an event. She used a strong breaststroke leg to post a come-from-behind win in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:43.61. Mann also placed third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:27.49.
- Freshman Bridgette Shroll touched the wall first by two seconds in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:32.09.
- Freshman Sarah Steffens was fourth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:08.14.
- The Comets rest tonight and are back in the pool tomorrow against Bethel (Ind.) and Manchester (Ind.) universities for a non-conference double dual meet. Action from the Elkhart Aquatic Center gets underway at 1 p.m.
