Men’s swimming defeats Alma, 123-78
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men’s swimming & diving team took first in seven individual events and both relays to defeat Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association foe Alma College, 123-78, today at the Upton Center Pool.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's swimming & diving team took first in seven individual events and both relays to defeat Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association foe Alma College, 123-78, today at the Upton Center Pool.
- Olivet got off to a fast start with the 200 medley relay team of junior Dylan Lyons, senior Takato Timmerman, sophomore Treyton Gabrielson and senior Chris Smith finishing in first-place at 1:46.39.
- Senior Carter Moore then won his first of two individual events, the 200 freestyle in 1:51.11.
- Timmerman and Smith posted a 1-2 finish in the 50 freestyle at 22.66 and 23.93 seconds, respectively.
- Sophomore Seth Kading beat three Scots in the 200 individual medley, with a time of 2:07.64.
- Sophomore Landon Morgan captured the top spot in the 100 butterfly in 56.01 seconds.
- Moore and Smith combined for a 1-2 finish in the 100 freestyle at 50.11 and 53.60 seconds, respectively.
- Kading and Lyons were next to go 1-2 in the 100 backstroke at 57.90 and 58.60 seconds, respectively.
- Freshman Matthew Brown had the fastest time in the 500 freestyle (5:29.88).
- Timmerman and Morgan finished 1-2 in the 100 breaststroke at 1:03.29 and 1:05.14, respectively.
- The Comets capped the meet when Kading, Lyons, Morgan and Moore won the 400 freestyle in 3:22.76. Their time was nearly 12 seconds faster than the runner-up team.
- Olivet is back in action next Friday, January 20, for a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Triangular at Hope College. The Comets swim against the host Flying Dutchmen and Kalamazoo College.
