Men’s swimming & diving team stays in fifth at 2022 MIAA Championship
HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College men’s swimming & diving team continues to be in fifth-place after the third day of the 2022 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championship at the Holland Aquatic Center. Over the first three days, the Comets have totaled 251 points – 111 ahead of sixth-place Alma College and 27 behind fourth-place Kalamazoo College.

HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College men's swimming & diving team continues to be in fifth-place after the third day of the 2022 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championship at the Holland Aquatic Center. Over the first three days, the Comets have totaled 251 points – 111 ahead of sixth-place Alma College and 27 behind fourth-place Kalamazoo College.
- Freshman Gavin Sutton finished fourth on the three-meter diving board. His 439.65 points ranks third all-time at Olivet for an 11-dive program.
- Freshman Spenser Keene was eighth in three-meter diving, scoring 273.25 points in the finals after scoring 281.35 points in the prelims.
- The Comets' 200-yard medley relay team of junior Dylon Lyons, junior Takato Timmerman, freshman Landon Morgan and junior Carter Moore had the fourth-fastest time at 1:37.03.
- Timmerman placed eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 58.27 seconds. In the prelims, he posted a season-best time at 57.52 seconds.
- Also, in the 100-yard breaststroke, Morgan and senior Thomas Krüg finished 11th and 14th, respectively. Morgan swam the race in a season-best time at 1:00.66, while Krüg's prelim time, 1:04.42, was a season-best.
- Two Comet swimmers placed in the 100-yard backstroke, as freshman Seth Kading was 13th in a season-best time of 55.29 seconds and Lyons was 14th in a personal-best time of 55.85 seconds.
- Kading also finished 13th in the 200-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 1:44.86.
- Moore placed 14th in the 100-yard butterfly at a season-best time of 53.69 seconds.
- Freshman Treyton Gabrielson clocked-in at 4:27.95 in the 400-yard individual medley to finish 16th. He had a season-best time of 4:27.06 in the prelims.
- In the 200-yard freestyle prelims, junior Sebastian O'Leary achieved a personal-best time of 1:52.91.
- The final day of the MIAA Championship is tomorrow. Preliminaries in the 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard backstroke begin at 10 a.m. The finals in those events, the final heat of the 1,650-yard freestyle and the 400-yard freestyle relay are scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
