Swim and dive teams compete at Calvin College Invitational
The Olivet College swimming and diving teams competed at the Calvin College Invitational. Due to fall semester exams, most of the Olivet student-athletes participated in only today’s third and final day of action. The meet featured five NCAA Division I schools, one NCAA Division II schools and five NCAA Division III schools.

The Olivet men had three relays finish in the top 6 and three individual top eight finishes. The highest finishing relay was the 200 medley relay team of Kellen Beckwith (Farmington Hills/North Farmington), freshman Josh Mauk (Battle Creek/Lakeview), junior Rafe Maxwell (Bay City/Western) and junior Mike Harden (St. Johns), who clocked-in at 1:37.31 to finish in fourth-place. The 200 and 400 freestyle relays each placed sixth. Swimming on the 200 freestyle relay was freshman Brock Jackson (Sturgis), sophomore Austin Munn (Pinckney), freshman Nick Edgar (Lansing/Everett) and Beckwith, and their time was 1:28.35. The 400 freestyle relay consisted of Harden, Beckwith, Munn and Jackson, and they finished in 3:14.93.
Freshman Joel Knight (Battle Creek/Lakeview) touched the wall in 53 seconds to finish seventh in the 100 butterfly. Jackson was eighth in the 100 freestyle (:48.46). Beckwith finished eighth in the 200 backstroke (2:00.61).
The top finisher for the Comet women was turned in by sophomore Megan Waschak (Battle Creek/Central) on the one-meter diving board. She scored 365.65 points. Freshman Crystal Jager (Dorr/Hamilton) finished in 11th-place in the 200 breaststroke in 2:31.09.
Olivet will leave Thursday for a 10-day training trip in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
