The Olivet College men’s swimming and diving team closed out the dual meet portion of its schedule with a 146-126 win over Albion College today at the Dean Aquatic Center in Albion.

The Comets had the fastest time in 11 of 14 swimming events, and of those 11 wins, Olivet went 1-2 in nine events.
The Comets were first in both relays. Swimming on the 200 medley relay was junior Kellen Beckwith (Farmington Hills/North Farmington), sophomore Matt Marquette (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix), junior Rafe Maxwell (Bay City/Western) and freshman Brock Jackson (Sturgis). They clocked-in at 1:39.68. The 200 freestyle relay quartet of sophomore Mike Mette (Rockford), junior Mike Harden (St. Johns), Jackson and Beckwith touched the wall first in 1:30.28.
Sophomore Austin Munn (Pinckney) was a double winner, 200 freestyle (1:52.93) and 100 freestyle (:49.73). The rest of the individual event winners include Beckwith, 100 backstroke (:52.99); Harden, 100 butterfly (:55.14); junior Rick Kinsey (Chelsea), 1,000 freestyle (10:18.45); Knight, 200 butterfly (2:08.69); freshman Josh Mauk (Battle Creek/Lakeview), 50 freestyle (:22.90); Maxwell, 200 individual medley (2:07.26); and Mette, 200 backstroke (2:05.66). Senior Sam Jaffee (Bowling Green, Ohio) turned in a pair of runner-up finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:55.14) and 500 freestyle (5:10.01).
Olivet is now idle until Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 11-13, when it competes at the MIAA Championships. Calvin College is the host school.
