Swimming and diving teams compete at Wabash Invitational
The Olivet College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams competed this weekend at the Wabash (Ind.) College/Pat Woehnker Invitational at the Class of 1950 Natatorium in Crawfordsville, Ind. The men’s team finished in fourth-place (out of nine schools) with 339 points. The women were sixth (out of nine) with 239 points.

The men's team finished in fourth-place (out of nine schools) with 339 points. The women were sixth (out of nine) with 239 points. DePauw (Ind.) University was first on the men's side, while Wheaton (Ill.) College took first on the women's side.
For the men, Olivet had a pair of first-place finishes. Senior Yury Bylina (Minsk, Belarus) took top honors in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:18.18, which was more than two seconds better than the runner-up finisher. Senior Dustin Meisner (Temperance/Erie Mason) led a 1-2 Comet finish in the 200-yard breaststroke. He touched the wall in 2:16.59 to beat senior Ryan Key (Phoenix, Ariz./Brophy Prep) by .45 seconds.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Key was the runner-up finisher in 1:01.49, while Meisner came in fourth with a time of 1:02.11. Also finishing in second-place was freshman Kellen Beckwith (Farmington Hills/North Farmington) in the 100-yard backstroke (:55.22).
For the women, sophomore Jackie Taylor (Plainwell) was fifth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.37) and 10th in the 200-yard backstroke (2:18.89). Junior Kalee Redder (Grandville/Jenison) placed fifth in the 200-yard individual medley, 2:22.48. Junior Lisa Egelkraut (Battle Creek/Central) came home in sixth-place in the 1,650-yard freestyle, 19:14.04.
Olivet is now idle until Friday and Saturday, Nov. 30-Dec. 1, when it participates in the DePauw (Ind.) University Invitational.
