Men's swimming and diving team beats Albion, 132-100
The Olivet College men’s swimming and diving team won 9-of-13 events to beat Albion College, 132-100, today at the Dean Aquatic Center in Albion. In addition to their nine first-place finishes, the Comets had eight runner-up performances.

Ryan Key (Phoenix, Ariz./Brophy Prep) was a triple winner, taking the top spot in the 200-yard individual medley (2:04.10) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:16.03). He also swam the breaststroke of the winning 400-yard medley relay (3:41.45). Joining Key on the relay were Koji Takahashi (Etobicoke, Ontario/Silverthorn), Rafe Maxwell (Bay City/Western) and Nathan Busscher (Hamilton/Holland Christian).
The rest of the first-place finishes were by Kellen Beckwith (Farmington Hills/North Farmington), 200-yard backstroke (2:00.79); Shawn Bergman (Chelsea), three-meter diving (285.25); Maxwell, 200-yard butterfly (2:01.92); Brad Voss (Lansing/Holt), 100-yard freestyle (:49.17); and Jason Wheatley (Portage/Central), 200-yard freestyle (1:48.41). Maxwell, Voss and Wheatley all recorded season-best times. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Beckwith, Wheatley, Busscher and Mitch Powers (Kalamazoo/ Central) placed first in 3:19.12.
Powers had a pair of runner-up finishes, 100- and 200-yard freestyle, :49.69 and 1:52.43, respectively. The remaining second-place finishes were by Bergman, one-meter diving (250.25); Busscher, 500-yard freestyle (4:55.70); Sam Jaffee (Bowling Green, Ohio), 1,000-yard freestyle (10:30.68); Takahashi, 200-yard individual medley (2:06.51); Voss, 50-yard freestyle, :22.64; and Wheatley, 200-yard backstroke (2:09.66).
Olivet will wrap-up the dual meet of its schedule next Saturday, Feb. 2, when it hosts Hope College at 1 p.m.
