The Olivet College men’s swimming and diving team defeated Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College, 128-99, this afternoon at the Upton Center Pool in Olivet.

The Comets recorded seven first-place and eight second-place finishes. Sophomore Yury Bylina (Minsk, Belarus) was a double winner as he won the 100-yard butterfly (:53.36) and 200-yard freestyle (1:45.91).
Swimming in their final home collegiate meet, seniors Juan Aguirre (Queretaro, Mexico) and Ananta Fetters (Fennville/Holland) each won an individual event and were part of a winning relay. Aguirre took first-place in 100-yard freestyle (:49.27), while Fetters won the 100-y1ard backstroke (:55.71). They teamed with junior Dustin Meisner (Temperance/Erie Mason) and sophomore Brad Voss (Lansing/Holt) for a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (1:40.69).
Freshman Nick Stone (Westland/John Glenn) touched the wall first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.24). Sophomore Justin Hulsebos (Wayland) claimed first-place honors and broke the school record in the one-meter diving competition (253.50). The old record was 253.15.
Voss was the runner-up in two events – 50-yard freestyle (:22.48) and 100-yard freestyle (:49.56). Meisner was second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.30). Junior Brian Jaffee (Bowling Green, Ohio) finished second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:19.65), while younger brother, Sam, took second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:01.28). Juniors Koji Takahashi (Etobicoke, Ontario/Silverthorn) and Jason Wheatley (Portage/Central) were second in the 100-yard butterfly (:54.31) and 100-yard backstroke (:57.74), respectively.
The final runner-up finish was by the 200-yard medley relay team of Takahashi, freshman Nathaniel Burchfield (Lansing/Everett), sophomore Ryan Key (Phoenix, Ariz./Brophy Prep) and Mitch Powers (Kalamazoo/Central). Their time was 1:41.13.
Olivet is now idle until Saturday, Dec. 9, when it participates in North Central (Ill.) College Invitational.
